Maido! Jani~ airing since October, 2012
Kansai Johnny’s Jr (関西ジャニーズJr) is a branch of Johnny & Associates. It consists of boys who have not yet officially debut from the region of Kansai.
Background[]
Kansai Johnny's Jr. are the Osaka branch of Johnny's Jr. established in 1997. Before the branch existed, trainees who had been accepted from Kansai would be sent to Tokyo to live in dorms with the other Johnny's Jr. trainees. Debuted idols who previously transferred from Kansai included duo KinKi Kids (Koichi Domoto and Tsuyoshi Domoto) and Okada Junichi from V6. As the Kansai Johnny's Jr. branch did not exist when KinKi Kids debuted, they were not considered as part of Kansai Johnny's Jr.
Since the establishment of Kansai Johnny's Jr., two units have debuted: Kanjani∞ in 2004 and Johnny's WEST 10 years later in 2014. Hirano Sho and Nagase Ren from the debuted unit King & Prince were also members of Kansai Johnny's Jr.
Since 2012, Kansai Johnny's Jr has had their own variety show, Maido! Jani~ featuring Kansai trainees as well as actresses and comedians. It's main cast primarily exists of Naniwa Danshi members. In February of 2020 it was announced that Naniwa Danshi would be graduating from hosting the show and would pass the baton to Lil kansai.
